Vintage Inspiration: Shirley MacLaine
It's been a while since I've posted a 'Vintage Inspiration' post and I think Shirley MacLaine is the perfect gal to bring it back with! I love Shirley, especially late 50s / early 60's Shirley. The Apartment and Sweet Charity are two of my favorite films and her pixie haircut and carefree attitude make her one of my favorite actresses of that era.
I must admit that, growing up, I knew Shirley more for her 'Terms of Endearment' and 'Steel Magnolias' roles. While she's made a nice transition to playing the "tough old broad" roles, the young Shirley characters are the ones that have my heart. These photos all remind me of that. Doesn't she look like she's about to tell you the funniest story or a really juicy secret?
If you're still only familiar with Shirley's role as Ousier Boudreaux or, I guess more recently, in Downton Abbey, I highly suggest renting some of her early films, she'll quickly become your new favorite actress.
